OpenID is a new standard for decentralized authentication for the web that follows the Unix philosophy of solving one small problem really well. It aims to solve the problem of too many usernames and passwords on the Web, it is backed industry heavyweights such as Google, Microsoft, Sun, Verisign, AOL, and it is a departure from the current "closed silo" approach to user identity. This talk will explore the benefits of using OpenID, and the potential pitfalls from a user and enterprise perspective.
Martin Strandbygaard is a software engineer at Safewhere.net developing future identity and access management services. Before joining Safewhere, Martin was overall responsible for the identity management activities in a fortune 500 company, and has previously consulted on identity management for a big-four company.
