Djagios is an opensource project designed in django.
It differentiates itself from lilac, nconf and others by being designed not for the system administrator, but for his manager. It will allow people unaware of the ins and outs of nagios to configure hosts, services etc.
Djagios also has a very strong developer API in python and currently a RESTfull API is being written.
The tool also allows you to import 95% of the nagios objects, and thus will be the first to support a full import (and export).
The talk will explain the technical loopholes that had to be crossed to achieve the current state, how you easily add functionality. I will also demonstrate how you can add hundreds of services or hosts with just a few lines of code.
So if you are interested in a configuration tool that does not lock you in nor obliges you to leave the console while your manager can do the same from a browser... Check out this talk!
Jochen Maes is a senior system engineer at Inuits.. He has extensive experience in setting up open source projects. For his work he regularly needs to install and configure Nagios servers. He founded Djagios to fill up the need he discovered in his work environment.
As an active member of the open source community he is a staff member of the freenode network, infrastructure lead for samurai-x.org, ex-developer for Gentoo last but not the least one of the core organizers of FOSDEM.
