A small revolution is underway in the world of public libraries in Denmark. For years, all the data and technology has been in the hands of proprietary vendors, but the last couple of years, the libraries have been working to get control of their own systems and do a lot more with the abundance data they have available. That is the Ting project.
The first result of those efforts are the new, open source, Drupal powered websites for the public libraries in Århus and Copenhagen.
Some of the key players in its development will explain the business case, reasoning and technology.
Rasmus Luckow-Nielsen is the technical director of Signal Digital, a small Copenhagen based digital agency focusing on open source, Drupal in particular and social networking in general.
Mikkel Høgh is chairman of Drupal Danmark and has worked with Drupal for four years. He owns a small consulting company operating in Maribo, Denmark, helping customers and partnerts successfully deploy medium to large websites based on Drupal.
